T2 trainspotting2

First there was an opportunity….then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.

They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Other old friends are waiting too: sorry, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

T2 Trainspotting is released in cinemas on Feb 23rd.

Pitchfork

Glenn Douglas Packard’s well-received indie horror ‘’Pitchfork’’ officially hits VOD this Friday the 13th.
An ultra-low budget film, made with only one camera and shot in just 21 days, ‘’Pitchfork’’ has struck a chord with film fans, horror buffs and filmmaking aficionados alike.Despite its low- budget and guerrilla-style construction, ‘’Pitchfork’’ not only looks like a multimillion dollar, big studio movie but has been covered by major Hollywood publications like The Hollywood Reporter, L.A Times, Indie Wire and Deadline.

Like “The Blair Witch Project” and “Paranormal Activity”, “Pitchfork” is further proof that you don’t need big bucks, just a big idea and lots of drive, to make a solid genre film.

To coincide with the VOD release of the film, we are pleased to present a new behind-the-scenes featurette – which reiterates that a lot was done with a little! – and the terrific VOD artwork.

Having recently shared a life-changing secret with his family, Hunter recruits his friends to come with him from New York City to the farm where he grew up as he faces his parents for the first time. As the college students enjoy the fresh air of Michigan farm country, an older, more dangerous secret slowly emerges. While Hunter navigates a new place within his conservative family, a vicious creature from their past descends on the farm, putting the unsuspecting city kids in mortal danger as they start being stalked by a twisted, dark, and disturbing beast, Pitchfork.

‘’Pitchfork’’ is co-written, directed and produced by Emmy award nominee Glenn Douglas Packard, Director of Photography Rey Gutierrez. Producers Darryl F. Gariglio (executive/co-written) Shaun Cairo (associate) & Noreen Marriott.

FeatureEmmure

Metalcore heavy-hitters EMMURE have announced that their new album, titled Look At Yourself, will be out in March 2017 The band’s follow up to the 2014 full-length Eternal Enemies is their first with SharpTone Records and will see them touring throughout North America building up to the release. The band currently consists of vocalist Frankie Palmeri, guitarist Josh Travis (Glass Cloud, ex-The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravagazna), bassist Phil Lockett (ex-The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravagazna), and drummer Josh Miller (ex-Glass Cloud).

To give listeners a taste of what they can expect from Look At Yourself, Emmure has released 2 brand new tracks, “Russian Hotel Aftermath” “Torch“. Both tracks from the new record can be streamed via the links below.

Check out the new tracks: Russian Hotel Aftermath (OFFICIAL AUDIO STREAM) + Torch (OFFICIAL AUDIO STREAM)

People talk about possessing a drive to succeed. But how badly domost of them really want it? EMMURE captures the sound and spirit of what it’s like to fight for one’s vision. There’s no feigned sophistication, no phoned-in sloganeering, and no calculated drama with EMMURE. This is barebones, punishing, death metal-flavored metallic hardcore, driven by the catchiest rhythmic bounce of Active Rock radio’s golden age of nu-metal.Frankie Palmeri has no patience left for gossip, rumors, or halftruths. It really doesn’t matter what gets said about the band the frontman has led through good times and bad, because the music of EMMURE presents a swift, decisive answer. Since 2003, the Queens, New York native has watched EMMURE grow from an idea into an international institution. EMMURE carries the torch for heavy music and the hardcore scene’s most celebrated abrasive edge, with a truth-telling bravado and an outsider’s angry disdain for bullshit. Simply put, the band blasts upon all scene fakery with full-on fury. »Look At Yourself« represents a coming of age for EMMURE, a new chapter in an aggressive autobiography that stretches back to the band’s very first album, released when Palmeri was barely out of his teens. It’s infused with a brutal self-examination and observation, balancing hate, bile and perseverance, with the tempered experience of a life spent in pursuit of self-reliance and respect, from within and without. It’s expressed in a crushing cacophony of riffs that never fail to super-serve the forward-motion groove of EMMURE.

Like the firebrand rabble-rousers from the gritty streets of New York’s hardcore and hip-hop scenes who came before them, EMMURE’s confrontational music will captivate and sometimes even elevate listeners without sacrificing authenticity. EMMURE are students of the mind-blowing percussive chaos of SLIPKNOT, the hard-won personalized musical struggle at the heart of KORN, and the angry pop-crossover confidence of LIMP BIZKIT.

The band has become a cornerstone of the heavy music scene, featured as a prominent act on each of the most relevant tours and festivals in North America and Europe, including “Vans Warped Tour”, “Rockstar Mayhem”, and “Ozzfest meets Knotfest”. They’ve travelled the globe with their contemporaries and peers in bands like FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, AUGUST BURNS RED, PARKWAY DRIVE, and WE CAME AS ROMANS. EMMURE initially burst onto the heavy music landscape with a trio of banger albums released in quick succession over as many years:»Goodbye To The Gallows« (2007), »The Respect Issue« (2008), and »Felony« (2009). At a ridiculously impressive break-neck pace, EMMURE built a celebrated catalog, rounded out in quick succession by »Speaker Of The Dead« (2011), »Slave To The Game«(2012), and »Eternal Enemies« (2014). »Look At Yourself« offers a bold look toward the future, even as it takes stock of the past and present.

The band does more than spit out fire and churn out venomous riffs onstage. They conjure a specific energy, moving a crowd, creating a communal energized feeling. EMMURE’s music is the sound of perpetual motion. Like a shark, the songs keep moving. There’s no “softening” of the sound, no compromise, no explorations of experimental garbage. EMMURE has been refined, but without sacrificing their aggressive thunder.

Wil Wagner Tour Dates

Prior to the release of new music and a busy year ahead for The Smith Street Band, much-loved front man Wil Wagner will embark on an extensive solo tour throughout February.

After the success of two sold out East Coast shows mid 2016 between recording commitments, Wagner will return to the stage in solo mode for what will be his furthest reaching tour to date. With just one day off over the space of two weeks, the whirlwind tour will span most corners of the country and take in unique venues such as three hometown Melbourne shows at the prestigious Melba Spiegeltent.

Bringing with him an ensemble of friends who he has acquired through years of overseas touring, support will come from Laura Stevenson (U.S.A), Ian Graham (U.S.A) and Iona Cairns (U.K).

Hot on the heels of her latest album Cocksure, her fourth album in as many years, is New York singer/songwriter Laura Stevenson. Having recently collaborated with The Smith Street Band in the studio, Stevenson brings her inimitable brand of songwriting – described by The A.V Club as “indie-pop heaven” – to Australia for the first time.

Last here in 2013 touring with his band Cheap Girls, returns Ian Graham. Hailing from Michigan, aside from singing and playing guitar in the power-pop trio, Graham runs Business Casual Records, the label that released Wagner’s solo cassette of demos, I Hope I Don’t Come Across Intense in 2015.

Rounding out the stacked line up is Iona Cairns, leader of Shit Present and formerly Great Cynics, two bands who have played with The Smith Street Band all over the planet. Just a year since her last visit and now with a new EP under her belt in the form of Shit Present’s Misery + Disaster, the English native will return with her stripped back take on punk rock.

Proudly presented by Pool House Records and Jackknife Music, catch Wil Wagner, Laura Stevenson, Ian Graham and Iona Cairns as they tour Australia this February.

FeatureDanny Trejo

World-renowned actor Danny Trejo has teamed up with award-winning filmmaker Brett Harvey (Ice Guardians, The Culture High) to tell a story 71-years in the making.

“Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo”, currently in production in California, explores the life and career of Hollywood’s most unlikely hero, Danny Trejo.

Trejo, whose myriad of TV and motion picture work includes Desperado, Machete, Sin City, Predators and Sons of Anarchy, executive produces alongside proficient producing team Adam Scorgie, Rocky Mudaliar, Iliana Nikolic and Craig Balkam.

From an early life of drugs, armed robbery and hard prison time, to the red carpets of Hollywood blockbusters all the way to helping troubled addicts; Trejo gives a firsthand account of one of the greatest transformations of human character ever put to film.

“Today, Danny Trejo is temperate, benevolent and likely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. But he wasn’t always this way”, explains producer Adam Scorgie, whose credits include recent success Ice Guardians and upcoming Chasing Evel: The Robbie Knievel Story . “Growing up in the mean streets of Pacoima, California, he was raised and mentored by his uncle, a drug addict and armed robber. By the age of 12, he had tried heroin. By age 15, he was introduced to his first jail cell. At 23, he was sentenced to San Quentin for selling a $30,000 bag of heroin to an undercover agent. From bad to worse, he boxed his way through the prison jungle, winning fight after fight and learning self-discipline along the way. Surviving some of the most hostile conditions in the country, Danny would eventually find himself involved in a prison riot that would lead to the turning point in his approach to life.”

Upon his release from prison in 1969, Danny’s life took a turn for the better. He started counseling teen drug addicts and working as a boxing coach. One chance meeting led to another and eventually, he found himself on the set of Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky’s Runaway Train (1985), where he was hired to train the film’s star, Eric Roberts how to box.

During the course of his illustrious acting career, Trejo has worked with such heavyweights as Quentin Tarantino, Antoine Fuqua, Michael Mann, Ivan Reitman and Robert Rodriguez.

Trejo recently completed filming Death Race : Anarchy and western Dead Again in Tombstone, both for Universal Pictures. Shortly, he’s expected to reprise his trademark role of Machete in a second sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s cult classic.

Inmate #1 : The Rise of Danny Trejo is currently lensing for a release fall 2018.
