[MUSIC NEWS] BUGS Get Stuck Into Glue
After opening Falls Festival for triple j unearthed and touring the country off the back of their single “Neighbourhood” – including Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, and Melbourne Music Week – Brisbane’s trio of boyish blokes BUGS have returned with new single “Glue“, and the announcement of their second EP “Social Slump” Due on April 13th.
Premiering on Good Nights on triple j last night, new single “Glue“
explores the fearful feeling that everything around you is constantly moving forward and changing while you are stuck in the same place, head space or behaviours.
“Glue” will be available digitally on Friday March 16, as well as exclusively on vinyl through Domestic La La’s 7″ singles club later this month.
“Flicking through Facebook photos of people you went to school with having kids & buying homes whilst your living pay to pay off a retail wage sipping $7 Sauv Blanc from the bottle is fun, but toxic. Everyone is running their own race at their own pace, just remember that. No need for judgement in comparison to others, and certainly no need for self-deprecation. Commitment isn’t for everyone!” – Connor Brooker
Coming to life in 2014, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Connor Brooker founded BUGS as a bedroom recording project. Soon after, a community of fans grew and Connor found himself selling out small local shows and eventually getting offers to support the likes of PUP (Canada), Modern Baseball (US) and Twin Peaks (US); not to mention locals Hockey Dad, Good Boy, Bleeding Knees Club and Spiderbait.
Joined by Brock Weston (Drums) and Jordan Brunoli (Bass) in 2015, the band went from strength to strength gaining industry support along the way with their energetic live show and emotionally raw lyrical content.
BUGS are fun, rambunctious, and charismatic – they’re your friends with a carton and an eski next door – writing relatable tunes that you can sing along to, but with a depth below the surface.
