The first clip from Terror Tales, the highly-anticipated new horror anthology from writer-director Jimmy Lee Combs and High Octane Pictures, has been released ahead of the 1/8 On Demand release.

The film, which brings together cast from Friday the 13th, Maniac Cop 1 & 2, George Romero’s The Crazies, Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs, Sleepaway Camp,Critters 2 and other horror classics, stars Lynn Lowry, Ari Lehmann, Felissa Rose, Laurene Landon, Jennifer Runyon and more!

When Michael wakes up he is horrified to find that he is riding shotgun with a psychopath (Christopher Showerman, “Supergirl”) who reveals to him that his wife and daughter are held captive in the attached cargo trailer. The trailer is rigged to release a deadly toxin when triggered by a switch in the car. Thinking of his family’s safety, he cooperates with everything the psychotic driver asks him to do even if it means breaking the law.
During this bizarre ride, the driver subjects Michael to three horrific tales of the macabre including a demon that takes a mother (Lynn Lowry, “Shivers”) on a journey of self-discovery and reveals to her the horrifying truth behind her son’s suicide. The next tale transpires in the ’80s where a Detective is hot on the trail of a serial killer known as The Sledgehammer (Jonathan Tiersten, “Sleepaway Camp”) who is terrorizing a video store owner and his wife. In the final tale, an evil deity (Yan Birch, “Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs”) is using the human body as a host to possess its victims. When the deity destroys one victim it jumps to another causing an epidemic of possessions being reported.
With a burning desire for the truth behind his abduction and the safety of his family, will Michael have the will to survive the madness? Your sanity will be tried and tested in Terror Tales.

Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop), Jennifer Runyon (Ghostbusters), Ari Lehmann (Friday the 13th), Ashley Park (“Rosewood”), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and Helen Udy (The Dead Zone) also star.

In the tradition of Creepshow, Terror Tales from High Octane Pictures turns up the terror this January!

Monster Fest Presents in association with Rialto Distribution will release Nicolas Pesce’s PIERCING to cinemas in limited release from Thursday January 10th, including a Special Event Screening with Q&A by actress Mia Wasikowska (CRIMSON PEAK, MAPS TO THE STARS) at Dendy Cinemas Newtown.

PIERCING is the sophomore feature from Nicolas Pesce, the writer/director of 2016 festival favourite THE EYES OF MY MOTHER and is based on a novel by  Ryû Murakami, author of AUDITION, on which the Takashi Miike film was based.

Reed (Christopher Abbott) kisses his wife and baby goodbye, seemingly headed away on business. But instead of clothes, he’s packed a murder kit. He’s planned everything meticulously: he’ll check into a hotel, call an escort service, and kill an unsuspecting prostitute. Only then will he rid himself of his murderous urges. But Reed’s plan could not account for Jackie (Mia Wasikowska), the alluring and mysterious call girl who arrives at his room. When an unexpected incident occurs, Reed and Jackie find themselves in a pulsating game of cat-and-mouse. Has he been found out? Is this all just some strange game? Or are they falling in love? As the night progresses, Reed starts to lose control. Before the night is over, a feverish nightmare will unfold, and the pair will seal their bond in blood.

PIERCING opens in select cinemas from January 10, for locations

As a typically busy year winds down, Melbourne indie-darlings IV League are preparing for a massive 2019 by today announcing not only a Melbourne headline show and a pair of Summer festival appearances, but also a new bookings deal with Rob Giovannoni of Select Music.

The news follows a huge 2018 for the band and they’ll kick off a new year with festival appearances at Brisbane tastemaker event The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and The Hills Are Alive in Victoria, as well as their own hometown headline show at the Grace Darling Friday February 22nd.

This is, of course, on the back of a pair of well-received singles released in 2018. Both the blazing‘Superstar’ (released in March) and the recently-released slow burn ‘Lose Me’ were met with immense praise online, were immediately added to triple j’s rotation playlist and whet the whistles of old and new fans alike for what’s to come on their debut EP.

IV League are, quite simply, the ideal indie band. They kneel at the alter of 90’s heroes like The Breeders and Pixies, while simultaneously inhaling fearless inspiration from international contemporaries such as Wolf Alice, Parquet Courts, Shame and Alvvays. They remain forward-thinking and original in their execution as an Australian guitar band not making typical “Aussie rock”. Their not-so-secret weapon, however, is the unique vocal stylings and vision of singer, guitarist and writer Bella Venutti.

Dazzling all who witnessed their shows in 2018, IV League played theatre shows in support of City Calm Down, sold out a trio of east coast headline shows and shifted themselves firmly into the position of the ones to watch when taking to the outside stage at BIGSOUND 2018 before a carpark full of delegates.
