Split Seconds Announce Tour
With a brand spanking new EP – Neil Young & Dumb – only recently added to their already impeccible discography, Melbourne-via-Perth stalwarts Split Seconds are undertaking a trio of shows in Melbourne, Perth and Bunbury to celebrate.
Featuring two singles – the recent ‘Delivery‘ and radio-favourite ‘Halfway There‘ (featuring Kathryn Rollins – the EP is as you’d expect from a band with such a flawless back catalogue – a natural progression for a band already with a penchant for penning perfect songs that emerge as feeling already classic. Recorded in stages after lead-man Sean Pollard spent time writing with the likes of Gossling, Alexander Gow (Oh Mercy) and Dan Kelly, the EP combines unconventional and clever lyricism with sharp and textured arrangements.
The band began work, for the majority, with producer Steve Schram (Paul Kelly, San Cisco, Calling All Cars) before they debunked to their own make-shift studio in Brunswick to finish off the release between shows.
And as for the title? Pollard explains: “It came from a dream in which Neil Young was trying to sell me one of his Pono things, and all I wanted to do was get him to sign my vinyl copy of On The Beach. I thought it summed up the weird musical world we all live in at the moment. Plus it’s a good pun.”
These shows are the perfect opportunity to see the band in their perfect environs – an intimate setting which allows them to extend both their musical muscle, but also to proudly display how they are atop their game currently.
