[MUSIC NEWS] IV LEAGUE Announce Shows

As a typically busy year winds down, Melbourne indie-darlings IV League are preparing for a massive 2019 by today announcing not only a Melbourne headline show and a pair of Summer festival appearances, but also a new bookings deal with Rob Giovannoni of Select Music.

The news follows a huge 2018 for the band and they’ll kick off a new year with festival appearances at Brisbane tastemaker event The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and The Hills Are Alive in Victoria, as well as their own hometown headline show at the Grace Darling Friday February 22nd.

This is, of course, on the back of a pair of well-received singles released in 2018. Both the blazing‘Superstar’ (released in March) and the recently-released slow burn ‘Lose Me’ were met with immense praise online, were immediately added to triple j’s rotation playlist and whet the whistles of old and new fans alike for what’s to come on their debut EP.

IV League are, quite simply, the ideal indie band. They kneel at the alter of 90’s heroes like The Breeders and Pixies, while simultaneously inhaling fearless inspiration from international contemporaries such as Wolf Alice, Parquet Courts, Shame and Alvvays. They remain forward-thinking and original in their execution as an Australian guitar band not making typical “Aussie rock”. Their not-so-secret weapon, however, is the unique vocal stylings and vision of singer, guitarist and writer Bella Venutti.

Dazzling all who witnessed their shows in 2018, IV League played theatre shows in support of City Calm Down, sold out a trio of east coast headline shows and shifted themselves firmly into the position of the ones to watch when taking to the outside stage at BIGSOUND 2018 before a carpark full of delegates.
