[VOD NEWS] STAN Sign New Deal With UNIVERSAL
Stan and NBCUniversal Global Distribution today announced a long-term, exclusive content partnership that will see Stan become the Australian home of new productions from Sky Studios and NBCUniversal International Studios, as well as Peacock content produced by Universal Studio Group.
The deal will also see Stan become the exclusive home of new DreamWorks Animation TV shows produced for Peacock, in addition to NBCUniversal’s acclaimed children’s programming, scripted and unscripted content from Sky Studios; as well as iconic scripted library TV series and hundreds of blockbusters films from NBCUniversal’s catalogue.
The expanded partnership with NBCUniversal builds on Stan’s unrivalled lineup of international content partnerships and further cements Stan as the home of premium television and blockbuster movies from the biggest studios from around the world.
Stan’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Sneesby said: “This marks the first time an agreement combining series from Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation and Peacock content produced by Universal Studio Group has been secured in Australia – the biggest new slate of premium scripted content to come to market in recent times. This landmark deal reflects the strength of NBCUniversal’s portfolio and reinforces Stan’s commitment to bring the world’s best programming to Australians through our most significant output partnership to date.”

FORTHCOMING PEACOCK SERIES PRODUCED BY UNIVERSAL STUDIO GROUP:
Dystopian drama Brave New World will premiere exclusively on Stan. Based on Aldous Huxley’s groundbreaking novel, the series stars Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey).
Other upcoming series produced for Peacock coming exclusively to Stan include: Dr. Death, based on Wondery’s hit true crime podcast about the terrifying true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch; Angelyne, based on L.A.’s mysterious billboard bombshell and starring Emmy Rossum (Shameless); Rutherford Falls from executive producers Michael Schur (The Good Place), Sierra Teller Ornelas (Superstore) and Ed Helms (The Office), who also stars; the highly anticipated new Saved by the Bell; and the all-new Punky Brewster, with Soleil Moon Frye reprising her title role.
Further upcoming projects include: a re-imagining of the classic sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, written by Michael Lesslie (Little Drummer Girl) and executive produced by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot); Girls5eva, a comedy series executive produced by Tina Fey (30 Rock), Robert Carlock (30 Rock) and Meredith Scardino (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and starring Grammy Award®-winning artist, Sara Bareilles; One of Us is Lying, based on Karen M. McManus’ bestselling debut young adult novel; and MacGruber, starring Will Forte (Nebraska, Saturday Night Live).

FORTHCOMING NBCUNIVERSAL INTERNATIONAL STUDIOS SERIES:
Stan will be the exclusive home to exciting new content from NBCUniversal International Studios, including Lady Parts.
From NBCUniversal International Studios’ Working Title TV, this is an anarchic, laugh-out-loud music comedy following a Muslim female punk band called Lady Parts. The six-part series tracks the highs and lows of band members as seen through the eyes of Amina Hussein – a geeky PHD student who is recruited to be their unlikely lead guitarist.
FORTHCOMING SKY STUDIOS SERIES:
Gangs of London, Sky UK’s biggest original drama launch of the year, produced by Pulse Films in association with Sister for Sky Studios, will premiere exclusively on Stan and stars Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror) and Sopé Dirisù (Humans).
In addition, a number of major scripted series from Sky Studios’ slate are coming soon, including I Hate Suzie, produced by Bad Wolf and written by Lucy Prebble (Succession, Enron) and starring co-creator Billie Piper (Collateral, Doctor Who); and Domina, an ambitious new drama series produced by Fifty Fathoms and Sky Studios with Cattleya, that follows the power struggles of Ancient Rome, told through a female perspective with a cast led by Kasia Smutniak (Dolittle, Devils).
A number of other dramas, comedies and unscripted series from Sky Studios will also premiere exclusively on Stan, with further announcements to follow.
