[SPORT] JAIDEN HUNTER Earns New Contract

Mid-season recruit Jaiden Hunter has signed a one-year contract to remain in the red and black until at least the end of 2024.

Hunter was recruited from Perth Football Club in the WAFL and joined the Bombers through pick No.9 in the 2023 Mid-Season Draft.

The 21-year-old played two VFL games for the Bombers before a back injury ended his season prematurely.

The forward showed plenty of potential in his two outings, kicking 5 goals, including a four-goal haul against Carlton in round 12.

Hunter’s accuracy in front of goals, his strong presence, and his contested marking ability make him a dangerous target in attack.

Hunter said he was thrilled to remain in the red and black.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity and look forward to representing the Bombers and repaying the faith that they’ve instilled in me,” Hunter said.

“Essendon is such a big club and can’t wait to push to play AFL football. My body is feeling great and I look forward to getting into pre-season. Go Bombers.”

General Manager of List and Recruiting Adrian Dodoro said the club was excited by Hunter’s potential.

“Unfortunately, Jaiden’s season was limited this year due to injury, but his outings at VFL level demonstrate his potential to be a key target up forward,” Dodoro said.

“At 196cm, Jaiden is a presence up forward, can take a strong contested mark and is accurate on the scoreboard.

“Jaiden has been extremely diligent with his rehab, and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve with a full pre-season under his belt.”
