[MUSIC NEWS] FANGZ Have Some Chicken Fun

Gadigal/Sydney-based punk rock quintet FANGZ have just revealed their accompanying music video for single ‘Wasting Time‘ – filmed by Rhys Bennett (DZ DeathraysTotally Unicorn).

‘Wasting Time’ captures the vibrant chaos of Gadigal/Sydney through a point-of-view lens, showcasing the city from Newtown chicken shops to St. Leonards boxing gyms. Filmed by Rhys Bennett with a camera rigged to his hat, the storyline unfolds in a surreal, chicken-populated world, echoing quirky, nostalgic vibes of 90’s video clips.

The band share the inspiration behind the video:

“Inspired by the line ‘the world is a vampire’, but chickens. The world is chickens. The story is essentially a wild night out where everyone in the world is a chicken. Not much thinking went into it. We just wanted to tip our hats to all the weird Rage clips we grew up watching from The Prodigy to Aphex Twin with a little more fun and a FANGZ flavour.”

Since their 2019 inception, the band have released three EP’s ‘For Nothing‘ (2019), ‘But No Thanks‘ (2020), ‘Falling Is Pretty Normal‘ (2022), and a slew of singles, which received strong support from the likes of triple jtriple j UnearthedTriple MSpotifyApple MusicAmazon MusicMetal Hammer (UK), Loudwire (USA), Classic Rock (UK), Metal Injection (USA), Louder Sound (UK), NME (UK), PileratsThe GuardianMANIACS, and many more.

They’ve traversed the country multiple times selling out headline shows, performing at festivals and sharing stages with the likes of FIDLAR (USA), Pennywise (USA), RedHookComeback Kid (CAN), He Is Legend (USA) and Gyroscope.

The group have also launched their very own line of hot sauce ‘Fang us Some Sauce‘, an annually curated festival ‘FANGZstock‘, and hold the Guinness world record for the most hard-boiled eggs eaten in one sitting by lead singer Josh Cottreau (143 eggs in three minutes and ten seconds).

Coming into 2024, the quintet have recently completed a run of headline shows and a national tour with The Bennies. They have also just finished supporting Cancer Bats (CAN) on their first Australian tour since 2019.
