[MUSIC NEWS] RINRIN Announces New EP
Perth-based alternative rock rising star RinRin announces ‘The Nut House‘ EP, out January 31. The EP is home to RinRin’s dystopian narrative that began unravelling earlier this year. Rin shares new single Chainsaw Girl as another taste of what’s to come and will tour the EP across Australia in January with Future Static and The Last Martyr. Tickets on sale now via Destroy All Lines.
Joining FCKNRUN, im sad lol and PRN on the extended play, latest single, Chainsaw Girl, once again takes cues from luminaries BABYMETAL, Poppy, and Bring Me The Horizon to create Rin’s own unique brand of pop-punk and metal that expounds infectious energy, produced with Chris Lalic of Windwaker.
2024 introduced a new era for RinRin, and Chainsaw Girl is the fourth offering from the narrative, and the fourth in a string of fantasy-fuelled releases. Previous singles explored the dystopian and fictional story of Rin, based on real life – a multiverse where ‘variants’ of RinRin reside in alternate worlds, leading different lives that reflect true feelings.
Chainsaw Girl emphasis the saying “an eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind”. The song journeys through the rise and fall of a version of RinRin, who begins fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world, representing the ebb and flow of Rin’s own will to survive her trauma. The story turns into a toxic tale of revenge and rage, taking a darker turn and uncovering destructive coping mechanisms.
This years releases have garnered national support and will be celebrated live on an Australian tour supporting Future Static on the Liminality Tour in January. Joining The Last Martyr as support, RinRin will visit The Baso in Canberra, Waywards in Sydney, Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane, Crown & Anchor in Adelaide and will wrap at Revolver in Melbourne.
No stranger to the live stage, RinRin has sold-out headline shows across Australia and supported the likes of Windwaker, RedHook, Reliqa, Caskets (UK), The Home Team (US), The Plot In You (USA), Erra (USA) and more. In April of this year, RinRin toured China supporting Walk Off The Earth’s 6-city arena tour, charming her new-found fans with her charismatic pop/rockstar aura. RinRin is represented by Destroy All Lines for Australia and New Zealand, and Triumph Music for China and Japan.
With a fierce passion and dedication to mastering her craft, RinRin has soared to great heights off the back of her intricate guitar work and impressive songwriting abilities. For two years in a row, RinRin won the WAM award for Best Heavy/Metal Songof the Year for Guns and Grenades (2023) and Miss Miserable (2024) and was runner-up overall for the Best Song of the Year award in 2023. RinRin’s catalogue has been embraced by streaming giants Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer and her singles have received love from Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J and FBi to name a few.
With an undeniable sense of direction, RinRin is ready to play her powerful brand of pop punk wherever it will take her. Chainsaw Girl is available and streaming everywhere now, The Nut House EP will be available January 31, 2015.
