[MUSIC INTERVIEW] WHISKY SUGAR – Tannen’s World Interview
Launching out of Barcelona with a huge passion for rock n’ roll, Whisky Sugar unleash their stomping new single ‘Tannen’s World’!
‘Tannen’s World’ is a memory and a reminder of the corruption of capitalism, and a
scream for freedom. For the Back to the Future fans among you, the song is also a
mockery of the Biff Tannen’s of the world! It’s a reference to the political upheaval and
new world order ordained by a certain Biff lookalike; it touches a key part of Back to
the Future Part II: you don’t recognize the world you’re in.
Packed with the many influences that inspire the band, from the grunge-soaked Nirvana, through to the
legendary choruses of Guns N’ Roses, ‘Tannen’s World’ will have you head bopping from the moment you hit play, whilst offering their own fresh spin on the icons that inspired them.
Their previous, but also very recent single ‘Breakfast for Millionaires’ was born in
2021 as Juanjo (John Side) and Santi (Rai Storm) debated the state of the world. The
hangover from covid, the political havoc taking place around the world, their own
belief that a better way is possible, all helped to create its hard-hitting foundation.
The song and its accompanying music video are an attempt at a metaphor for this. An
unknown, resource-rich man hunting human prey across a desolate landscape.
Whisky Sugar finalized their lineup in early 2023 with the addition of its final member.
With two albums recorded and a wide variety of covers from the 70s and 80s in heavy
rotation, they are currently playing concerts in Spain and now have their eyes set on world domination.
This week the band spoke to Subculture about the new single and you can listen to the interview right here:
