[FILM NEWS] OUIJA SHARK 2 Begins Production

After OUIJA SHARK made a splash with B-movie shark fans just over a year ago, Wild Eye Releasing has announced that the official sequel is currently filming with principal photography to be completed this year.

A team up between Wild Eye Releasing and Survival Zombie Films, the Ouija Shark follow-up will see fan favorite John Migliore from the first film revive his shield-slinging shark fighter dad Anthony, as well as taking over directing duties for the film.

Also reprising their roles from the original film are Kylie Gough (as Illyana) and Simon Wheeldon (as Caldura). Deborah Jayne Reilly Smith appears as a mysterious new character named Cressida.

Mike Trebilcock and Semetary Spawn will be providing the movie’s dramatic score as well as some new songs for the film.

The film is packed with shark action special effects and promises to offer even more bizarre and inter-dimensional weirdness for fans than the first film.

Migliore also penned the sequels’ script, and previously directed Creature from Cannibal Creek (2019), Exorcism of the Dead (2017) and Poltergeist Encounters (2016).

“The world of Ouija Shark is steeped in both fantasy and the occult, making almost anything possible. I’m looking forward to providing more than a few surprises,” Migliore said.  

Wild Eye Releasing has released a few screenshots from the movie to whet fans shark sized appetites.

Stan today released the body slamming trailer for its upcoming pro wrestling drama series Heels, with the eight-part hour-long series set to pile drive its way onto screens from Sunday, 15 August – same day as the U.S. and only on Stan.

Written and created by Executive Producer Michael Waldron (Loki, the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) with Executive Producer Mike O’Malley (Shameless, Survivor’s Remorse) as showrunner, Heels stars Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Jack Spade, with Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games, Vikings) playing his younger brother, Ace. Peter Segal (Get Smart, 50 First Dates, Tommy Boy, Shameless), who directs several episodes, also serves as executive producer.

Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
 
The drama series also stars Alison Luff as Staci Spade, Jack’s wife who learns that she has to contend with the emotional stakes her in-laws have invested in their wrestling goals and the demands it puts on her family; Mary McCormack as Willie Day, Jack’s business partner and the logistical brains behind the local wrestling organisation; Kelli Berglund as Crystal Tyler, Ace’s valet and love interest; Allen Maldonado as Rooster Robbins, one of the best wrestlers in the circuit who always has something to prove and always backs it up; two-time Super Bowl champion James Harrison as Apocalypse, a been-around-the-block journeyman wrestler who’s been at it for decades and has no illusions of fame or glory; and Chris Bauer as Wild Bill Hancock, a larger-than-life former wrestling star who is now a high-level pro wrestling scout.
 
Along with Waldron, O’Malley and Segal, LBI Entertainment’s Julie Yorn (Hell or High Water, White Boy Rick, The Dirt), Christopher Donnelly and Patrick Walmsley will also serve as executive producers. Heels is produced by Lionsgate TV for STARZ in association with Paramount Television Studios and is distributed internationally by Lionsgate.

The brand new series Heels premieres Sunday, 15 August only on Stan.

Swedish atmospheric black metallers, Wormwood have released a highly cinematic video set in a post apocalyptic Stockholm for The Archive. The Archive follows the desperation after an unprecedented catastrophe in Sweden.

“Take part of a journey through the past, present and future mistakes of man.”
Arkivet (The Archive) follows mankind’s inability to take care of the earth. The album takes you on a sojourn across lands soon devoid of people, a not-so-far-future where flames become citizens. It will also tell you about the men and women who lost their minds, their will to leave and homelands.
An Arkivet is a document written for those who want to make it easier for their close ones after their passing. Where you can tell how you want to have your funeral arranged, where important documents are located, last wishes, etc.. Wormwood use this as a metaphor for the whole world throughout the seven songs on the album. The last words of an already dead planet….

[VOD NEWS] DR. DEATH: THE UNDOCTORED STORY To Air On STAN

After the spine-tingling premiere of Stan’s acclaimed true crime drama series Dr. Death, Stan today announced the brand new four-part docuseries, Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story, will premiere Friday, 30 July only on Stan.

Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story is the first docuseries about Dr. Christopher Duntsch – nicknamed “Dr. Death” – an infamous neurosurgeon who was sentenced to life imprisonment after maiming, harming, or killing 33 patients who came in for complex but routine spinal surgeries in the Dallas, Texas area in the early 2010s. 

The four part docuseries will offer audiences the chance to hear and see the whole story, told by the real people who survived it. In addition to interviews with the real-life Dr. Robert Henderson, Dr. Randall Kirby and Michelle Shughart (played by Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater and AnnaSophia Robb, respectively, in the scripted series), the docuseries will feature new conversations with others closest to Duntsch and his criminal case including Jerry Summers, Duntsch’s best friend who he paralyzed following two surgeries; Wendy Young, the ex-girlfriend of Duntsch and mother to his two sons; Dr. Joy Gathe-Ghermay, the anesthesiologist during Jerry Summer’s horrific surgery; Dr. Mark Hoyle, a Texas surgeon who physically tried to stop Duntsch during a surgery; Tex Muse and Pamela Trusty, two of Duntsch’s victims; and lawyers from the trial.

The story was popularised by Wondery’s 2018 podcast Dr. Death. The scripted true crime drama series, starring Joshua Jackson, with Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin, is now streaming only on Stan.

Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story is executive produced and directed by Sara Mast. Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez and Marshall Lewy executive produce on behalf of Wondery.

[VOD NEWS] STUNTMAN Trailer Released

Disney+ revealed the official trailer and key art for “Stuntman,” streaming on Friday, July 23.  The documentary film follows legendary stuntman Eddie Braun as he attempts one of the most dangerous stunts in history. Contemplating retirement and having survived over three decades of hellacious car crashes, explosions, high falls and death-defying leaps, Eddie decides to complete what his childhood hero never finished – the infamous Snake River Canyon rocket jump – an audacious televised event that almost killed famed daredevil, Evel Knievel.

“Stuntman” is executive produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Brian Gewirtz from Seven Bucks Productions. Producers from Driven Pictures are Steven Golebiowski, Eddie Braun and Kurt Mattila. Mattila also directed and edited the feature documentary. Kelly Knievel serves as executive producer. “Stuntman” includes music by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

Following the release of previous single ‘Temptation‘, the relentless behemoth that earned the nomination as the heaviest song in the bands history and upon release undisputedly became
one of the most successful metalcore singles of 2021, IMMINENCE once again displays their unrestrained diversity and dynamic approach with a new release.
