Comedy 4 Karma Fundraiser

Hannah Gadsby

You’ll laugh yourself silly for a good cause at the Daylesford Town Hall at Comedy 4 Karma, a fundraiser for the Daylesford Dharma School on Saturday 4th October with a stellar bill of comedians including Hannah Gadsby, Sammy J & Randy, Anne Edmonds and more to be announced soon, plus Dave O’Neil as MC.

The evening, guaranteed to be filled with hilarity, will feature some of Australia’s most popular comics, all generously donating their time for free for this good cause. Dave O’Neil, a man who needs little introduction with his comedy career spanning over two decades making him one of our most recognized comedians will be MC for the fundraiser. Dave has appeared on numerous TV programs, including fifty appearances on Spicks & Specks, been a radio host on various stations, and also appeared at fifteen Melbourne International Comedy Festivals over the years, and is surely Australia’s busiest funnyman. Comedy 4 Karma will be raising funds to continue the excellent work the teachers and staff provide for the 40 or so students who attend the primary school.

Appearing on the Comedy 4 Karma bill will be the killer deadpan perfection that is Hannah Gadsby. Her special brand of comedy entails a droll delivery, delightful wordplay and heart-breakingly funny, self-deprecating observations, continually delighting audiences all over the world.

Discovered in 2006 via the Hobart Comedy Festival where she made her hometown stage debut, she then went on to win the national Raw Comedy award shortly after. Going from strength to strength ever since, she’s appeared regularly in Australian loungerooms via the TV programs Good News Week, Adam Hills Tonight, Spicks And Specks, and Agony Aunts. Dipping into her Art History graduate background she’s also written and presented ABC TV specials on Artscape, as well as her own three part art-based series Hannah Gadsby’s Oz
Sammy J & Randy, who combine catchy songs with chaotic tomfoolery and outbursts of filth, are two adorable characters with an uncanny knack of charming the pants off everyone they meet. Having played sold out houses at The Sydney Opera House, closed the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Gala and sold out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe. Daylesford punters are in for a treat.

Anne Edmonds who is also appearing will delight the Comedy 4 Karma audience. One of Australia’s most exciting new stand up, character and banjo playing comedians Anne has won much critical acclaim and like Hannah, she was discovered at Raw Comedy. She has since gone on to win many other accolades within Australia as well as at Edinbugh Fringe Festival (the breeding ground of comedy).

Founded on the philosophical principles of Buddhism, The Daylesford Dharma School has been in existence since 2009, and is the first Buddhist primary school in Australia. The school teaches children compassion, wisdom principles, interdependence and respect for all life, with a focus on community connectivity and sustainability.
