[MUSIC NEWS] ELLA HOOPER Works To The Bone

Revered naughties front woman and vintage fashion queen Ella Hooper recently revealed her latest solo endeavour ‘To The Bone’ – a certified dancefloor filler and instant pop anthem. Plunging deep into disco, indie and multifaceted pop tropes alike, the single isHooper’s boldest, most bombastic yet, and is set to be a standout set-list highlight this September when she takes on two massive Brisbane venues at the 2018 BigsoundFestival. In celebration, the acclaimed artist is laying down one hell of a film clip courtesy of fellow musician, performer, DJ and director Tanzer.

With a vividness to rival that of the technicolour op shop fiend herself, Tanzer has created a colourful, joyous clip that so perfectly encapsulates the anthemic charisma and kinetic energy of ‘To The Bone’. In this fantastical visual collage of saturated colour, live performance, and found imagery, Hooper and her band twist and turn through Tanzer’sdisco-apocalypse world as if it’s their final dance on earth. An undeniably unique vision, ‘To The Bone’ is as wacky as it is sexy, and as sonically diverse as it is visually invoking – conjuring the healing energy of disco and the staunch grit of rock in true Ella fashion.

Having spent the last few years splitting her time between playing a series of reformation shows for Killing Heidi’s 20th anniversary, as well as dancing on her own two feet across a myriad of media gigs as a musician, radio presenter, TV host and DJing nationally forGroovin’ The MooElla Hooper remains one of Australia’s most prolific performers. Backed by her accomplished live band featuring members of Jade Imagine, Machine Translations, Handsome, The Cactus Channel, RockWiz & more, Hooper will perform at Brisbane venues Family and The Valley Drive In across two back-to-back dates at this year’s Bigsound showcase.

Whether it’s aiming to fill the dance floor, or create a pin drop moment of serene reflection, the music Ella makes is genuine and multilayered, cathartic and refreshing, with her talent for connection and genuine reverence for the art of a good rock show forever at the forefront of her creative vision.

Do not miss the chance to see this incredible performer at the top of her game at this year’s Bigsound Festival.
