Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special Screenings

On November 23rd 2013, the world’s longest running sci-fi series celebrates 50 years with an explosive anniversary episode. Shot in 3D, “The Day of the Doctor” stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman and Billie Piper with John Hurt. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

Fans will be able to don their 3D glasses and take their enjoyment into another dimension as Doctor Who celebrates 50 years with special 3D screenings of “The Day of the Doctor” at 100 cinemas across Australia from 24 November.

Classic Cinemas Elsternwick welcome special guest, original costume designer of the Cybermen, Alexandra Tynan, to introduce the 11am screening on 24 November.

Alexandra Tynan is a costume designer who worked on the BBC’s Doctor Who series with William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. Tynan is best known as the costume designer of the original Cybermen in Hartnell’s final story, “The Tenth Planet”. Tynan also worked on Patrick Troughton’s first story “The Power of the Daleks”.

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th Anniversary Special: in 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion.
