[MUSIC NEWS] FINDING BETTER HEALTH Release New Single

Finding Better Health write sprawling anthems for the end of the movie, or the start of the drunken march home. The four-piece outfit hailing from the suburbs of Sydney take influence from shoegaze, incorporating elements of post-hardcore and post-rock, but with an immediacy that recalls the beginnings of emocore – and today, they are serving up their first taste of what is to come.

Their debut single and video is entitled ‘Single Serving Friends’ is a eulogy to temporary friendship. With deafening guitars, pounding drums, and vocals strained to the point of emotional exhaustion, Single Serving Friends is the perfect soundtrack to the sunrise, after a night filled with longing and regret. It was mixed and engineered by Clayton Segelov (Shady Nasty, Endless Heights, Whatever Forever) of the Brain Studios – and is out this Friday November 12 – and can be pre-saved here.

Having spent time paying their dues in various noise and hardcore bands throughout their youth, the band came together in mid-2019, finalising a line-up that had existed years prior. An outlet for emotions that may be too hard to share, the band aims to answer the question – when all you want to do is cry, isn’t it more fun to just dance?

Vocalist Harry Belcher speaks about the track. “The title is in essence a Fight Club reference. It refers to a scene in which the narrator describes his nomadic lifestyle, comparing relationships to the single serving products one would find on an aircraft. The title Single Serving Friends refers to the theme of the song, which is decrying the relationships one may form for a time, and their inability to exist outside of this time. That old saying “some friends are for a time, and some for a lifetime.”

He continues that “The song came about following a friend of mine moving to Melbourne, and his last night in Sydney, which was spent traversing his favourite spots from his youth, ending in a small colonial graveyard in the hills. In the coming months, as the relationship fractured, the song was written as part of the grieving process that came with losing such a dear friend. A part of me knew that would most likely be the last time we hung out, and as we stared at the bright lights of the city from our perch atop a gravestone, I stopped for a moment and took it all in, almost wishing to crystallize the moment, and pushing the inevitability of the end of our friendship from my mind, if only to enjoy the view.

Finding Better Health are: Harry Belcher on Guitar and Vocals, Jim Bradshaw on Guitar, Riley Suter on Guitar and Josh Handel on Drums – and they are just getting started.

Single Serving Friends will be out on Friday November 12th in all digital stores and streaming platforms at https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/findingbetterhealth/single-serving-friends-2.
