[MUSIC NEWS] AMONG THE RESTLESS Announce New Single

From the midst of Melbourne’s underground alt-rock scene, the raw wall of sound that is Among The Restless is making itself well and truly heard. The Naarm-based five piece are back with their powerful new single, ‘Torn’, the sonically charged belter, off their upcoming EP, which is set for release early 2023.

It’s been a stellar 2022 for the band, with ATR fever accelerating across the country with each show. The ATR journey officially began late 2019, and their sheer talent is recognised in the band’s push to pay homage to Alt/Indie and rock giants like Nothing But ThievesFoo FightersSpacey Jane and The Strokes, whilst pairing their signature new wave grit/style genre with the resonant and unique vocals of Rhett James.

After bringing their dynamic debut EP ‘Define’ to sold-out shows throughout the east of Victoria, including hometowns of Macedon and Frankston, and a whirlwind festival slot at Uncaged Festival alongside legends of the Australian scene like WolfmotherBanks Arcade, The SuperjesusYou Am I and Dregg, the boys are keeping the momentum going with their brand new single ‘Torn’, the first taste of their upcoming EP.

‘Torn’ sees ATR recounting the uncomfortable feelings involved with being unsure of your goals and place in the world. It’s a shared experience for many, and one that guitarist and co-songwriter, Lachie Dunn believes needs to be confronted head on.

“Everyone has felt like this one way or another. Not knowing whether or not you are doing the right thing or feeling lost. But you can almost be certain that everything will be okay if you stick with it.”

Collaborating once again with acclaimed producer Steve James (Sex PistolsThin LizzyThe Screaming Jets) in Meanjin/Brisbane’s Red Engine Recording Studios, the band are ready to hand-deliver a brand new set of songs, including the lead single ‘Torn’. ATR’s new EP is a brilliant step forward, honing a new sound of fused genres, thunderous instrumentation, and raw, emotionally-charged vocal melodies.
