[MUSIC INTERVIEW] SOLNEGRE – Vessel Part 1: The Night Within Interview

“Vessel Part I: The Night Within” is intended to be the SolNegre’s introduction and reflects very well how much they are influenced by the Old School vibe of the 90’s Doom Death. The slow but catchy vibe may remind of early Saturnus/Katatonia, and it moves in a solemn, procession-like mood until the central part, when a massive ultra-virtuosistic solo takes over to a cataclysmic conclusion. “Vessel Part II: The Day We All Failed” will be an harmonic and conceptual continuation for this track and will be included in the October release.

Conceptually, both songs draw on the concept of the highly functioning Depression and of Suicide, with the host being a Vessel for the turbulence and the disfunction. The lyrics on “Vessel Part I” are written from the point of view of this dark passenger taking over an unwilling Vessel and shattering him to the point of collapse, creating something beautiful but terrible in the process.
