[MUSIC NEWS] HANDS LIKE HOUSES Release New EP

Canberra alternative heavyweights Hands Like Houses have released their new EP Lótus, available everywhere now via Civilians.

The release follows their recent Australian headline run, The Lótus Tour, which saw the band return to stages nationwide for a string of performances that launched some of their new tunes live for the first time, supported by post-hardcore mainstays, Dream On Dreamer. With that homecoming now complete, Hands Like Houses have taken Lótus to international stages, currently touring across Europe ahead of their major festival appearances at Slam Dunk Festival in the UK this weekend.

In the lead up to Lótus’ release, Hands Like Houses shared singles “Love & AffectionFlowers“, “DEAD” and Warning Signs, the latter two featuring Dream On Dreamer. Across the tracks, Hands Like Houses leant into a darker and more reflective space, unpacking themes of emotional burnout, self-awareness and the delicate balancing act of maintaining mental wellbeing.

Launched on Australia’s Lótus Tour, the run of shows received strong support across Australian music media, with reviews consistently highlighting the band’s renewed sense of self and evolving live presence. The Au Review said: “It’s clear that Hands Like Houses are at the top of their game” while HEAVY Magazine reflected on the atmosphere, noting: “The room’s energy befitting the Lótus full bloom, a poignant balance is struck between wonder and wishfulness”.

The tour’s collaborative spirit was also widely recognised, with emerging Australian artists joining each date, framing the tour as a genuine celebration of community within the alternative scene. PitPass wrote: “there was a real sense of community throughout the night. It was one of those shows that left me thinking, ‘man, I love live music’” while Wall Of Sound praised the band’s stage presence, stating: “The showmanship was on point, and it was at this moment that I decided that I will make an effort to catch Hands Like Houses live as often as possible”The Note captured the broader arc of the performance, summarising it as: “…cinematic, theatrical, an evolution and most importantly, happiness all-in-one.”

More than fifteen years into their career, Hands Like Houses continue to inject a fresh dose of modern stadium rock into Australia’s thriving alternative scene. With ARIA success, critical acclaim, sold-out tours, more than 280 million Spotify streams and a devoted global fanbase, the band have cemented their place as one of Australia’s most enduring and influential alternative acts.

The Lótus EP is out now and streaming everywhere via Civilians.
